When

• Right before dessert at a
sit-down reception. Closer to the end of a luncheon or cocktail reception.

• Let the kitchen staff
know when you plan to cut the cake so they can remove it right after for
cutting and serving.

•Money-Saver: Choose a
small but beautiful wedding cake for display at your reception. Keep
less-expensive sheet cakes in the kitchen for serving to guests.

Where

• The cake is usually
placed on its own table. Arrange the venue so your cake table is clearly seen.

• Dress the table up with a

From the dresses and shoes to gifts for the
bridesmaids, here are tips for helping your best gals save some money.

1. The Dress.

- Consider different gown styles in the same color.
Bridesmaids can find their own dress in a price range they’re comfortable with.
Feel free to set other criteria, such as hem length and preferred types of
material.

- Browse the prom dress selection at your local
department store.

- Rent. Yes, you can rent bridesmaid dresses. It’s
often less expensive, but can be difficult to find matching dresses for a
larger wedding party.

- Purchase gowns from a consignment shop or sell them
to the consignment shop after the wedding.

2. The Shoes

- Go basic.  Silver, white or black dress shoes often
look just as nice as shoes that are dyed to match the dress and can easily be used in your wardrobe after the wedding.

- Allow your bridesmaids to choose their own shoes
with some criteria to follow, such as color, strap preference and heel height.
