Meet Shanna – Etiquette Consultant

What do you do at Ann’s?

I write and I research. Much of my time is spent answering the common and not-so-common wedding questions every couple has. Let’s face it, the world of weddings is complex, but so much fun!

Why do you love it?

I love a celebration, and I thoroughly enjoy infusing a celebration with your own personalities. Plus, I’m cheap. Yep, I said it! A great celebration doesn’t have to cost a fortune, and the great thing about planning a wedding on a budget is that it unlocks your creativity, which naturally brings out your personalities.

What does cheap mean to you?

Cheap doesn’t mean settling for less, it means finding the best value. A beautiful wedding can be done on the cheap, and being thrifty is something to be proud of!

What do you bring to the blog?

I have spent years in the wedding industry, which means I know where to spot a deal, where to pinch some pennies and where to focus the budget you do have. I stay on top of wedding etiquette — old and changing — and I am always looking for new, efficient ways to pull off the many wedding-planning tasks on the average bride’s to-do list.

What is your personality/style?

Simple, earthy, fun. Natural tones and design elements, but with touches of bright color like ruby red dahlias and bright orange marigolds. I lean toward a relaxed style, but secretly I’ve always wanted to raid my grandmother’s collection of big, gaudy, sparkling jewelry!

What is something the reader might not expect about you?

I’m not crafty. It takes a lot of time for me to put something together that my fellow designers can whip up in 10 minutes. So trust me when I say Ann’s offers great inspiration for all skill levels. If I can do it, you can do it!
