Dreaming of a truly romantic wedding? We’ve created an entire look around Gilded Romance featuring shades of pink, lots of flowers, candlelight and gold accents sparkling everywhere. Let’s not forget the Regal Flourish Invitation that inspired it all!

Gilded Romance Inspiration

Add budget-friendly accessories accented with gold foil personalization and pink satin or pink chiffon ribbons throughout your tables and decorations. Try a traditional favor like a tulle circle around Jordan Almonds tied with personalized satin ribbon. We added gold scroll rings for a rich finish.

Gilded Romance Accessories

To give the illusion of an expensive wedding, accent your look with plenty of gold touches. Decorate with gold chargers under dinner plates. You can find plastic chargers at most craft stores for $2 or less. Surround your tables with candles and gold candle holders. A great time to buy gold candles is after the holidays when they’re on sale. You can mix and match the styles and sizes of candle holders, just keep with the same gold tone.

Can’t find enough gold items? Gold or gold-glitter spray paint is a great way to turn an ordinary item into something beautiful.

Decorate your guest book table with non-matching, gold-framed black and white photos of you and your husband and wedding photos of your parents and/or grandparents. Your family and guests will enjoy the nostalgic touch.

Our Gilded Romance look features the following products from Ann’s Bridal Bargains: Pink Chiffon Ribbon; Pink Satin Ribbon; White Heart Favor Box; Gold Scroll Rings; Pink Netting Circles; Classic Pink Cocktail Napkins; Guest Book with Gold Lettering & Pen; Pink Favor Boxes.

Choosing an invitation may be difficult if you’re not sure how to tie your whole wedding together with flowers, centerpieces and color. We pulled three of our new seal and send wedding invitation designs and we’ve offered wedding bouquet ideas and centerpiece/ décor ideas to match.

Budget Tip: I love fresh flowers but depending on the time of year and the availability of your flower, silk flowers are a beautiful and affordable option. You can do a silk flower bouquet or mix them in with real flowers to simply cut down costs. When buying silks, make sure the silk petals don’t fray.

Floral Menagerie in Petal

Floral Menagerie in Petal

This seal and send invitation has shades of wine, gold, orange and green. Create bouquets with pops of these colors and include succulents, a trendy way to add unique texture and color. Centerpieces don’t have to be extravagant or all match. Mix long tables and square tables and change up your centerpieces using the same flowers and colors.

Floral Menagerie in Marigold

Floral Menagerie in Marigold

This seal and send has the same floral pattern, but changing the colors to warm shades of gold, orange, brown and dark olive gives it an entirely different feel. Check with your florist to see if they have sunrise orange, rust or autumn gold calla lilies available. Calla stems can be expensive so compare the price of fresh versus fake. Pomanders are beautiful as decorations for the aisle or as something unique for the flower girl to carry. Pomanders are easy to DIY using a Styrofoam ball, hot glue, ribbon and silk or fresh flower heads. We recommend a full, dense flower like a mum or carnation.

Watercolor Blooms in Fuchsia

I love this seal and send with its soft shades of pink florals! Using shades of pink opens up so many options from flowers to bridesmaid dresses. Simple, inexpensive glass cylinder centerpieces wrapped with lace and ribbon can be filled with fresh roses and tulips. You could mix in wedding whites using Queen Anne’s Lace flowers, ranunculus, peonies and spray roses.

Want to save a little more on your flowers? Find a flower wholesaler and purchase buckets of flowers and arrange them yourself. Find vases or fun containers at your local thrift shop or dollar/discount store.

Green is a BIG color this year. Not only is emerald the Pantone color of the year but the recent release of Oz the Great and Powerful has made green super popular. Below we’ve gathered some of our favorite options for incorporating shades of green into your wedding.

Whether your Celtic heritage is playing a minor or a major role in your wedding, we have some ideas to help you celebrate your love for each other and your Celtic background!

We created Celtic wedding invitations and Celtic wedding favors with design-your-own items available at Ann’s Bridal Bargains. Below you’ll see what we were able to put together with our Celtic-inspired design cuts.

Celtic Wedding Inspiration

The Claddagh

We added the traditional Claddagh symbol, representing love, friendship and loyalty, to our Design-Your-Own seal and send wedding invitation and personalized wedding napkins. Marquis seal and sends are everything you need in one invitation. There’s room for your wedding wording, reception wording and a website and/or phone number for responding. Traditional response cards are also available.

Wedding napkins add a nice, personal touch to any wedding reception, and you choose the color to coordinate with your wedding reception decorations.

The Clover Leaf

The clover leaf design symbolizes good luck and looks adorable on our white favor boxes and matchbooks. The small white treat boxes can be filled with any treat you like. We chose green jellybeans to fit the theme. The matchbooks are also available as notepads, a nice alternative to this very popular wedding favor.

The Celtic Knot

Our favorite! We like this Celtic knot design cut for its modern take on an old motif. We also think it’s pretty cute when paired with the saying “Tying the knot,” which has a unique origin called Handfasting. Visit A Mythical Tune: Irish Wedding Traditions by Green Wedding Shoes to learn more about it.

We personalized favor labels with the Celtic knot and added them to black favor boxes with a green satin ribbon for striking contrast. We also placed the knot at the top of our Elegant Pearl Border separate and send invitation. Separate and send wedding invitations include your response cards, reception cards and all necessary envelopes for one low price.

You can put any of our design cuts on any of these items, so feel free to switch it up. And if you choose not to go with a design-your-own wedding invitation, that’s just fine. Let’s say you want the Floral Shadow wedding invitation. You can still design favor labels, napkins and favor boxes with clover leaf design cuts to match!

1. Kitchen Bridal Shower

An excellent shower theme for those who LOVE to cook. On the bridal shower invitations, ask guests to bring a favorite recipe (or two) with them to the shower. Create a little recipe book for the bride to insert all the recipes. Encourage guests to bring cooking-themed gifts, such as cookbooks, dishes, pans, utensils, towels, etc. Make it easy with Ann’s Bridal Shower Recipe Set.

A good game to play would be Spice It Up. Gather eight to 10 kitchen spices. Wrap the containers with construction paper and number each container. Pass the containers around the room so guests can smell each spice and write down what they think it is.

2. Breakfast at Tiffany’s Bridal Shower

Guests dress up in classy black dresses, large sunglasses, fashionable hats and shimmering pearls. Serve specialty cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Play Moon River in the background and have a viewing of the bride’s favorite movie moments.

A good game to play would be Purse O’Plenty. Create a list of 10-15 things someone might keep in their purse. Some items can be common but some should be a little wacky to make it fun. Read each item out loud and if someone has it in her purse she must place it in front of her. The person with the most items wins.

Breakfast at Tiffany's Bridal Shower

3. Wine Party Bridal Shower

Ask guests to bring their favorite red or white wine to the shower. If you’d like a fun activity for the shower, get the materials to make wine charms or have guests paint their own wine glasses. After the activities, give each guest a notepad and pen. Pass each bottle of wine around and encourage guests to take notes about how much they like (or don’t like) the wine. Offer suggestions for common aromas and flavors wine connoisseurs use when critiquing. Check out GrapeConspiracy.com for an excellent cheat sheet. Order personalized wedding napkins just for the occasion!

A good game to play would be a Contest for Best Wine. At the end of tasting each wine, let guests vote on their favorite red and white. Give a prize to the people who brought the winning wines.

4. Get Sporty Bridal Shower

If your bride is a huge sports fan, throw her a shower with her favorite sport or team in mind. Decorate with team colors and send out ticket-style invitations. Select foods served at that sporting event, such as hotdogs, peanuts, popcorn, etc. Gifts could include outdoor games, a crockpot or grill for tailgating or a group gift of season tickets. Personalized golf balls on Ann’s would be a fun gift for a golf-loving bride.

A good game to play would be their favorite game, of course! Why not? Who says the girls can’t play a game of touch football, softball or even a little hockey at the local ice-skating rank for the bridal shower. Another option is to play the bride’s favorite yard games or head to the nearest arcade for some air hockey and car racing!

5. Hollywood Bridal Shower

Let the ladies go wild with this theme! It’s all about glamour and dressing the part. Think flashy dresses and sparkling jewelry. Find a red carpet to place in front of the entrance to the bridal shower. Have someone taking pictures as guests walk in on the red carpet. Give a prize for best jewelry or best ensemble.

A good game to play would be the Name Game. Create a list of famous actresses and pin a name on the back of each guest as they arrive to the shower. Don’t tell the guest who she is. She will have to rely on hints from other guests as everyone is mingling. The first guest to figure out who she is wins.

We’ve been doing research online, reading wedding magazines, attending weddings and talking with colleagues to come up with our 2013 Trend Watch for Brides. We’ve also included our recommendations for affordable items to help you achieve the look!

1920′s

1920's Trend

In 2013, brides will be most inspired by old world glamour with cinematic and literary influences like The Great Gatsby, Downton Abbey, Anna Karenina and A Royal Affair. 20s fashion included dropped waist dresses, beaded gowns, ornate lace details, long strands of pearls, costume jewelry, gold-tone jewelry, cloche style headpieces or beaded headbands. Receptions were more formal with specialty musicians like jazz trios, chandeliers, crystal touches, lush centerpieces, luxurious textures, beautiful coloring, Art Deco invitations and a black-tie dress code (think top hats for the groomsmen!).

Get the look of crystal without the price and go acrylic! Our acrylic cake stand and serving set are elegant and affordable.

Patterns and Prints

Patterns and Prints Trend

Incorporating patterns into wedding day décor is HOT in 2013! Couples will be using a signature pattern or print in their wedding design. Bridesmaids might wear striped skirts or carry bouquets with handles wrapped in fabric. Don’t forget the coordinating hand clutch (have you seen Jenna Lou Designs?) and groomsmen with print ties and boutonnieres made from fabric. Patterns to look for include chevron, stripes, gingham, paisley, houndstooth and polka dots. Prints can help you create a cohesive look from the invitation and favors to the table linens.

Create easy and inexpensive wedding favors with damask favor boxes and sweet ribbon favor boxes, both of which feature distinctly beautiful patterns.

Birds

Love Birds Trend

The bird theme continues to be popular into 2013. Lovebirds are associated with love and romance so they fit perfectly with weddings. Some cute bird-themed ideas include using different styles of birdcages as decorations, centerpieces or card holders. Add touches of feathers to your centerpieces, bouquets or boutonnieres. Toss birdseed (instead of rice) and use porcelain birds for your cake topper. Look for bird/feather accessories such as jewelry, shoe adornments and hairpins.

The Love Birds save the date and wedding invitation is one of several bird-inspired designs available on Ann’s Bridal Bargains. It’s a beautiful introduction of your bird-themed wedding celebration.

Cocktail Hour

Cocktail Hour Trend

We’ve seen reception lounges in a variety of styles that guests may sit and relax as they sip cocktails. Think soft couches, coffee tables, mood lighting and big overstuffed pillows! Themed bars are very popular. Ladies love a champagne, vodka or wine bar and the men will appreciate the scotch or bourbon bar. Another option is to have signature drinks fitting the theme of the wedding or favorites of the bride and groom.

Give your signature drink a fun name and have the name and recipe printed on menu cards. Place the cards on reception tables and at the bar.

Colors

Color Trends

Mint has a fresh and chic retro feel. Emerald Green (Pantone Color of the year for 2013) Shades of blue including pale blue, sea foam blue and navy. Gold will be everywhere in 2013 from gowns to décor. Consider gold ink for your wedding invitations for a unique touch of glamour.

Introduce your color scheme with the right invitation and use wedding napkins as a cheap way to add color to your wedding reception decorations. You will find discount wedding invitations and napkins in a variety of greens and blues here at Ann’s.

Farm or Lodge

Farm or Lodge Trend

Rustic farm, barn or lodge settings are big. Vintage décor with eclectic touches add a more formal feel. You could also achieve that more formal feel with the type of flowers chosen for centerpieces, surround the reception with candlelight, harp or a quartet of musicians playing during cocktail hour.

Use glass cylinders or canning jars to create rustic reception table centerpieces. Fill with pine cones, branches, autumn leaves or other natural elements for cheap decoration.

Bite-Sized Menus

Bite-Sized Trend

Consider having appetizers and desserts of bite-sized proportion, which look trendy and stylish. Guests will enjoy the idea of taste-testing foods and avoiding that “stuffed and tired” feeling. Serve small “mini” cakes instead of a large wedding cake surrounded by a variety of sweet candies, truffles and cookies for dessert.

Be sure to have plenty of wedding napkins on hand for guests to grab as they’re taking appetizers and desserts. Personalize your napkins with a cute phrase to fit the theme like “We’re taking a bite out of love.”

Pinterest

Pinterest Boards

Brides are using Pinterest to show off their personal style and collect a “Wedding Board” of inspiration.  You can create boards and share them with your friends, or you can keep them private so you are the only one who sees them.  Either way, Pinterest is a great way to collect ideas and inspiration for your big day!  Get started by browsing Ann’s Pinterest boards with budget savvy ideas, etiquette and much more!

We recently put together a bright and cheery carnival theme to be featured in our online Lookbook. Carnivals and fairs bring back good memories and good times, the perfect feel for a fun wedding. We’ve combined bright yellow and bold shades of green to give this carnival look a modern twist.

Carnival Reception Look

1. Add labels to bottled drinks as favors. You could even arrange them throughout the wedding as ring-toss games.

2. Decorate the ceiling, trees or dance floor with kiwi green paper lanterns.

3. Choose an invitation that mimics the style of a carnival poster with unique typography and mixed fonts. The Presenting Separate and Send Invitation is a good fit!

4. Finish your reception décor with kiwi green cocktail napkins printed with a fun design and your initials.

Have fun with food! For appetizers, serve French-fry cones, mini donuts or corn on a stick. Have a popcorn machine popping throughout the reception, and send them home with goldfish in a bowl.

Have entertainment for the kids in the form of balloon animals or a magic show. Photo booths are super popular but make sure to have some extra props for guests (hats, mustaches, feather boas, paper thought bubbles and pens). No need to rent a photo booth either. Have a corner of your reception set up with a neutral or black backdrop. Ask the photographer to spend a 1-hour or 2-hour period gathering guests to take fun photos.

Guests will surely have some great memories from your carnival themed wedding!
