Typography

Typography designs burst onto the wedding scene in 2012 and are sure to be an even bigger hit in 2013. Mixing typestyles, font sizes, colors and layouts creates endless options for one-of-a-kind save the dates and wedding invitations.

The Mustache

The resurgence of the mustache on everything from t-shirts to drinking glasses is more than a design trend — it’s a phenomenon! We’ve paired the classic Vaudeville mustache with bright red rockabilly lips as a rare expression of love.

Calligraphy

True beauty never goes out of style, and calligraphy is a truly beautiful art form. Weddings are the perfect occasion for featuring calligraphy writing, but traditionally it’s done by hand which is a bit unrealistic (and expensive). These save the dates feature a calligraphy typestyle making this elegant form of writing completely affordable.

Engagement Photos

#1. You get to know your wedding photographer.

Establishing a good relationship with your photographer is important because it will make you feel much more confident and relaxed on your wedding day. You will develop an idea of how your wedding photos will look and calm your nerves. Seeing these photos will also help you and your photographer become familiar with angles and lighting that suit you best. You can even have your makeup done the way it will be on your wedding day to get an idea of how it will look and make changes if needed. Look for wedding packages that include engagement photos. Your photographer will likely be one of the biggest expenses of your wedding, so it is important to get the most for your money.

#2. Engagment photos are perfect for wedding announcements.

One of the most common uses for engagement photos is to announce an engagement in the local newspaper. Keep this in mind during your photo shoot since many newspapers request closeup head shots. Make sure to schedule your photo shoot early in your engagement to meet any deadlines set by the publication, and you will need to get permission from your photographer to publish the photo.

#3. Engagement photos are super cute on save the dates!

Many couples will choose to use an engagement photo on their save the dates. Photo products like photo wedding invitations and photo save the dates are becoming very popular and the designs to choose from are now almost endless.

#4. You can create fun photo holiday cards.

If the timing is right, engagement photos are perfect for holiday cards and will subtly remind your guests of the upcoming nuptials. We really enjoyed the holiday card collection from Invitations by Dawn created specifically for newly engaged and newly married couples. See a few highlights from the collection we posted a couple months ago.

#5. Add a personal touch to your wedding reception.

Engagement photos are not just for pre-wedding preparations, but can also be used during the wedding reception. Traditional guest books are often being replaced with photo products, such as signature photo boards and photo books. Not only are these photo products a fun way to document your guest attendance, they are a memento you can display in your home for years to come.

If professional engagement photos are not in your budget, you can have a friend take photos for you. While a point-and-shoot camera will definitely not produce the same product as a professional camera, it is still important to capture this moment in your lives. Look up some posing ideas online, then go to your favorite locations like parks and historic buildings to re-create them!

What a romantic time of year to get engaged — congratulations to the newly engaged! Now it’s time find a save the date to ensure the people you love most can make it to the wedding. Lucky for you, we just added some fabulous new designs, and have some Q&As to get you started because we’re sure you’re wondering if they are really necessary…

Why send save the dates?

In today’s world, planning ahead has become a necessity. Save the dates allow your guests to plan for your wedding day well in advance. This is especially important for out-of-town guests, or if you’re planning a destination wedding.

When should save the dates be sent?

Save the dates should be sent as soon as you set your wedding date, which usually includes booking the ceremony and reception sites. This would normally be anywhere from 6 months to a year before the wedding. If you are planning to have a destination wedding or if many of your guests will be traveling, you should send save the dates a year or more in advance.

How much planning is needed to send save the dates?

Not much, so don’t worry! You will need to create a guest list but it doesn’t have to be finalized before sending save the dates. Just remember that only guests who will be invited to the wedding should receive a save the date. Save the dates are not announcements.

You won’t need a lot of details for your save-the-date wording. All you really need are your names, wedding date and something like “Invitation and Details to Follow.” If you’re doing a destination wedding, you’ll want to include the destination, travel agency you’re working with and the resort/hotel information.

What type of save-the-dates should I send?

There are lots of save-the-dates out there that will catch your guests’ attention and express your personalities. We just added new save the date magnets, photo save the dates and save the date cards. To find themed save the dates, visit our favorite wedding partner, Invitations by Dawn.

Planning a wedding can be an overwhelming task, but letting your guests plan ahead is as simple as a save the date. Check out these new designs and find the perfect one! Want to research more before deciding? Read, “Should my save the date match my wedding theme?”

Advice: Keep it casual! Friends and family want to see you being the everyday, wonderful couple that you are. Give them a glimpse of your personalities and your enthusiasm.

Ideas: We LOVE candid action shots, such as the couple walking along a cobblestone street or the woman kicking her heels up as her fiancé lifts her up and twirls her around.

Advice: Get up close and personal! We’re all about showing a hint of romance in photo wedding invitations. Zoom in on a romantic look, a loving embrace, or the classic, cheek-to-cheek pose.

Ideas: A soft kiss on the forehead or cheek creates a sweet photo wedding invitation you’re going to love. We also like creative shots that coordinate with specific wedding themes. Having a Western wedding? Double up on horseback for a fun photo. Having a “green” wedding? Take a romantic photo in a field of wildflowers.

Photo Thank You Cards

Advice: Have fun! You can go a number of directions with photo thank you cards.

Ideas: We really like the photo thank you cards featuring the couple holding a DIY sign that says “Thank You” — simply adorable! Or, if you’re up for trying something totally different, choose a photo that highlights a great moment at the wedding reception and write a funny caption underneath. Write your thank you inside.

NORTH MANKATO, MN – January 31, 2011 – Ann’s Bridal Bargains has expanded their selection of affordable save-the-dates to include some new, unique options.

Two new styles of save-the-dates are now available: save-the-date magnets and save-the-date postcards. Brides can feature a fun, unique or traditional photo on their save the date magnets and select cards — an increasingly popular way for couples to announce their wedding. Cost-conscious couples will also have their choice of different sizes to fit their budgets: business-card size and enclosure size.

“Now that couples are expressing their personal style in a variety of ways, Ann’s wanted to offer more than traditional save-the-date cards. The save-the-date postcards, for example, are something different from the norm. They’re printed with a return address, making them cute, clever and efficient. We expect they’ll be a big hit,” says Jean Noren, brand specialist for Ann’s Bridal Bargains.

With save-the-date postcards, brides will also take advantage of a lower postage rate and they’re more environmentally friendly since envelopes aren’t needed.

Ann’s does offer traditional save-the-date cards in a variety of designs and styles, and wedding invitations are available as save-the-dates as well. Couples can change the wording on any wedding invitation to create a save-the-date that coordinates perfectly with their wedding theme.
