Choosing an invitation may be difficult if you’re not sure how to tie your whole wedding together with flowers, centerpieces and color. We pulled three of our new seal and send wedding invitation designs and we’ve offered wedding bouquet ideas and centerpiece/ décor ideas to match.

Budget Tip: I love fresh flowers but depending on the time of year and the availability of your flower, silk flowers are a beautiful and affordable option. You can do a silk flower bouquet or mix them in with real flowers to simply cut down costs. When buying silks, make sure the silk petals don’t fray.

This seal and send invitation has shades of wine, gold, orange and green. Create bouquets with pops of these colors and include succulents, a trendy way to add unique texture and color. Centerpieces don’t have to be extravagant or all match. Mix long tables and square tables and change up your centerpieces using the same flowers and colors.

Floral Menagerie in Marigold

This seal and send has the same floral pattern, but changing the colors to warm shades of gold, orange, brown and dark olive gives it an entirely different feel. Check with your florist to see if they have sunrise orange, rust or autumn gold calla lilies available. Calla stems can be expensive so compare the price of fresh versus fake. Pomanders are beautiful as decorations for the aisle or as something unique for the flower girl to carry. Pomanders are easy to DIY using a Styrofoam ball, hot glue, ribbon and silk or fresh flower heads. We recommend a full, dense flower like a mum or carnation.

I love this seal and send with its soft shades of pink florals! Using shades of pink opens up so many options from flowers to bridesmaid dresses. Simple, inexpensive glass cylinder centerpieces wrapped with lace and ribbon can be filled with fresh roses and tulips. You could mix in wedding whites using Queen Anne’s Lace flowers, ranunculus, peonies and spray roses.

Want to save a little more on your flowers? Find a flower wholesaler and purchase buckets of flowers and arrange them yourself. Find vases or fun containers at your local thrift shop or dollar/discount store.

You know me, I’m all about finding good deals and these new wedding invitations are a great find! Here are 5 reasons why…

1. Your reception wording is printed on the invitation, which means no additional cost for reception cards.

2. You can have your online response service website and/or phone number printed on the invitation. No response cards needed! Response cards are still available if you’d like them. Or, you can do both just in case you have certain guests (Grandma and Grandpa) who aren’t super savvy online and would appreciate a response card.

3. There’s room for EVEN MORE details. Include your wedding website for directions and accommodation information. This is also a good spot for “No gifts needed.” or “This is an adult-only reception.”

4. Square wedding invitations (a.k.a. marquis) and pocket wedding invitations are super trendy. We’ve taken both trends and created an affordable seal and send wedding invitation that’s easy to send and stylish.

5. No envelopes required and coordinating seals printed with your return address are included!

The only downside to these is that square wedding invitations require additional postage to mail, but the money you’ll save on response card postage will more than make up for it. So go ahead, shop all twelve designs. We think you’ll be impressed.

Don’t forget, Ann’s offers up to 5 free samples of wedding invitations.  When you find one you like, simply click on the order sample button next to the personalize button.  We’ll mail your samples for free!

When Rachel and Danny came to us for advice on budget-friendly invitations, we decided to throw together a few different ideas. After careful consideration of their needs, we narrowed the choices down to three invitations.

Which one will they choose?

Here are some things we considered when coming up with options:

• Wedding Look – Rachel and Danny’s wedding colors were champagne, sage and brown. They wanted a look that was elegant with touches of flair.

• Affordable Accents – We looked at things like ribbon and rhinestones, which could be added to most invitations for a little extra pizzazz without adding cost.

• Guest Count -Rachel and Danny knew a smaller wedding would help them save money, and fewer invitations means less time assembling. This frees up time for fun, DIY accents!

• Money-Saving Details – To keep the cost as low as possible, we looked at easy money-savers like different formatting options, postcard responses and all-in-one invitations.

Option 1: Dreamy – Seal and Send Invitation

Option #1 - Dreamy Seal and Send Invitation

The Invite: Seal and Send invitations feature an all-in-one design, which means the wedding wording and reception wording are printed on the invitation and a detachable response postcard is included at the bottom. Response postcards require less postage. Another nice thing about seal and sends is they are self-mailing. Just fold, seal and send!

The Extras: The swirl design featured on the Dreamy invitation is elegant all on its own, but we added a sparkling rhinestone between the couple’s names for an easy touch of glamour.

The Cost: $99.99 per 100. All necessary pieces included! $3.99 per sheet of 25 rhinestones.

Option 2: Forever and Always – Separate and Send Invitation

Option #2 - Forever & Always Separate and Send

The Invite: Separate and Send invitations come as complete, coordinated stationery sets. Each invitation comes with two enclosure cards (respond card and reception card) on one convenient sheet. The enclosure cards are perforated for easy separation. Invitation envelopes and respond card envelopes are also included.

The Extras: The “forever and always” design creates such a beautiful element on this invitation, we wanted to accent this meaningful phrase with a clear rhinestone. We also chose lined envelopes to coordinate beautifully with the ensemble.

The Cost: $129.99 per 100. All necessary pieces included! $3.99 per sheet of 25 rhinestones. An additional $20 for lined envelopes.

Option 3:  Elegant Filigree – Invitation

Option #3 Elegant Filigree Invitation

A traditional-style invitation featuring a gate-fold front and luxurious embossing. The cost of this invitation will be higher since enclosures are sold separately. Rachel and Danny would need both the reception and respond cards, but this is still an affordable option especially for a traditional invitation ensemble with rich embossing.

The Extras: The gate-fold closure of this invitation makes it a unique choice. We decided to tie it closed with a shiny satin ribbon. We also added a lined envelope to coordinate.

The Cost: Invitations are $69.99 per 100. Reception cards are $46.99 per 100 and Respond Cards are $51.99 per 100. Satin Ribbon is $28.99 per 100-yard roll, which can also be used on decorations, bouquets and gifts. An additional $20 for lined envelopes.

Let us know which invitation is your favorite and what you like about it. We’ll reveal Danny and Rachel’s choice on Friday along with some fabulous photos of the big day!

Wedding traditions and proper etiquette are important to consider for any wedding, but sometimes breaking a few rules to save your budget is necessary. Here are 5 tricks for saving money on your wedding invitations that might break some minor rules, but stop you from breaking the bank.

money saving tips for weddings

In your corner.

Ann’s is always in your corner! We’ve got you covered when it comes to saving on wedding invitations, and one of the best-kept secrets we’ve got is corner copy. For a whole $6 more, we will print your choice of wording in the corner of your wedding invitation. You can use this spot for event notes, such as notes on attire, your wedding website or — if you’re bold about pushing the etiquette envelope — place reception information there and skip the cost of a reception card.

Dare to be different.

Inexpensive alternatives to the traditional wedding invitation ensemble are not only acceptable these days, they’re often preferred due to being unique and sometimes less expensive. Some great options here at Ann’s include seal-and-send wedding invitations and sep-and-send wedding invitations. To learn more about these alternative wedding invitations, read What’s the Deal on Seal-and-Sends and Sep-and-Sends: Let Unique Design Save You Money.

Try a different kind of postcard.

Respond postcards aren’t exactly the “proper” approach to wedding invitations, but they are practical, and we believe practical often outweighs proper for the budget-savvy bride. Besides, most guests simply don’t care if the respond card includes a nice crisp envelope or has full postage, and why should they? Respond postcards are inexpensive and require less postage. So, save a tree and a little cash. Check them out today!

Discover your inner tree-hugger.

Skip the inner envelopes – more for the sake of the environment than your pocketbook. Inner envelopes are more of a tradition than a necessity. They’re usually included with your wedding invitations for free, but you can specify that you would rather not receive inner envelopes with your order. It’s just a small thing you can do for the environment that doesn’t cost you a thing, plus it’s less addressing for you.

Be resourceful.

Use your wedding website to share important information instead of using extra enclosures. This works well for listing new address information rather than sending at-home cards. Also, if you include the full addresses of the ceremony and reception sites on your wedding invitations, guests can look up directions online. Then you don’t have to include a map card, but you can still use your wedding website to post some tips and recommendations for good places to eat, visit and so on. Contact older relatives, such as grandparents, to make sure they receive necessary information.

#1 When shopping for wedding invitations,
be aware of the shape and know that square invitations cost more in postage.
Check out our discount wedding invitations for some affordable size options.

#2 Remember that the heavier the paper, the heavier your invitation
ensemble, which means more in postage.

#3 Look for postcard save-the-dates and response cards. The postage
rate for postcards is less than regular postage.

#4 Weigh the invitation ensemble. Stuff one wedding invitation with
all the necessary enclosures and take it to the post office to be weighed.
You’ll find out exactly how much each invitation will cost to send and you can
purchase postage accordingly.

#5 Some wedding invitation styles cost less to mail. Seal ‘n send invitations include an attached
postcard-style response card, which saves you money. Also, seal ‘n sends don’t
need an envelope so you save on paper as well.

Love Declared Seal n Send Wedding Invitation

How it works.

Seal ‘n sends come as a vertical, tri-fold invitation with a

mailing. Clear seals are included for securing the invitation closed before you
mail them.

invitations, so no envelopes are needed.
